We reflect on this Memorial Day and gain a reminder of the true meaning.
First, the federal holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, originated as Decoration Day after the American Civil War in 1868. Originally, this day marked the honoring of Union soldiers who died in the war. As a result, these soldiers received burial in Arlington National Cemetery.
Secondly, Memorial Day also commemorates all American soldiers who died in military service. Today, Memorial Day proves synonymous with corner-store parades and backyard barbecues.
Ideally, it remains important to remember what the day really stands for, honoring those who have sacrificed their lives for our country.
Take a Moment
127 Pediatrics wants to take a moment on this Memorial Day to pause, remember, and honor all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our country.
With gratitude for their bravery and dedication, we will never forget their sacrifice.
This holiday, we also want to recognize the families of fallen service members.
They have paid an unthinkable price, and we offer our deepest sympathies.
We hope that this Memorial Day can be a time of healing for them.
Again, thank you to all those who have served, and may we never forget the high cost of freedom.
Lastly, as you celebrate time with your family on this Memorial Day, please take a moment to remember the families who have lost a loved one in service to our country.
Blessings,
